TAMEKA STIGERS

Tameka Stigers was instrumental in getting current hair braiders laws changed to offer license for hair braiders.

Tameka is part of a lawsuit filed by the Institute for Justice against the state of Missouri that challenges laws requiring African-style braiders to get a cosmetology license. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Missouri’s requirement in January, but there are plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
